SAN ANTONIO -- A popular River Walk duck was killed early Wednesday morning.

"George" the duck was a regular outside The Original Mexican Restaurant on the River Walk. He was best known for biting at patrons pants to get tortilla chips from customers.

"He's very people friendly, and a lot of people feed him," Blayne Carver, manager of the River Walk restaurant, says. "He's just been a really, really good duck and always coming around. He was very, very popular."

Witnesses say "George" was sleeping under a tree around 1:30am Wednesday, when two tourists walked up to him and began to beat the duck. Witnesses told police the duck was tortured and strangled. The two unidentified men were then spotted by restaurant surveillance video carrying the duck by the neck. Witnesses say the deceased duck was dumped into another part of the river.
