April 5, 2014 Share: Dear Emmanouil, Jimmy is a happy-go-lucky little tricolor. Kuzya is large, shaggy and still a little too skinny. They – along with Bosh, Archi, Lisa and five others – are survivors.
Their miracle journey began in Sochi, Russia, where they escaped a pre-Olympics street dog cull that killed thousands of animals. Our partner organization, Povodog, took them in, got them veterinary attention and obtained the paperwork necessary for them to leave the country. HSI facilitated their travel to the United States, and now they are up for adoption at Washington Animal Rescue League, with new lives ahead of them.

Around the world, HSI promotes spay/neuter as a humane, effective solution to street dog overpopulation. Local and national governments call on us to provide an alternative to killing, and we've demonstrated success in India, Bhutan, Mauritius, the Philippines, Latin America and elsewhere.
